Italy and the large islands of Sicily and Sardinia have very changeable weather in autumn, winter, and spring in marked contrast to the settled sunny weather of summer. Throughout the winter, however, cloudy rainy days alternate with spells of mild, sunny weather. Generally, the hottest month is July and the coldest month is January. May, June, September & October are great months to visit Italy.

Italy Vacation Tips

We recommend that you have at least $200 Euros in your pocket before you arrive in Italy as Italian cabs and locals do not like foreign currencies. You can purchase Euros before you leave home or on arrival at any major airport, train station and of course at the bank. Be prepared as Italian banks and businesses have different hours of operation than ours. Rail is the best way to travel around Italy, but if you choose to rent a car, we do not recommend driving in the Major cities, especially Rome. Italy is a pretty safe country; the worst you may encounter is petty theft and pick pocketing. That said losing your cards and passport can ruin a holiday so do not carry valuables in easily visible or accessible places. Italy has an overwhelming amount to offer the tourist. Booking a tour will mean all the planning and decision making will be done for you. However if you want to strike out independently then a few hours spent researching Italy and the great sights it has to offer will be paid back over and over.
